Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu has hailed the All Progressives Congress (APC) for its decisive win in the just-concluded July 12 local government elections across Lagos State, describing the outcome as a collective victory for all Lagosians.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Governor expressed joy over the “resounding victory” of APC candidates, extending congratulations to party leaders, stakeholders, and members for what he called an overwhelming endorsement of the party’s grassroots development agenda.
“This outcome is a clear affirmation of the trust and confidence that the good people of Lagos have in the APC’s vision, leadership, and unwavering commitment to inclusive development,” Sanwo-Olu stated.
He emphasized that the victory is not just for the APC but for the people of Lagos, highlighting their support for continuity, progress, and people-centered governance.
To the newly elected Chairmen and Councillors across the 57 LGAs and LCDAs, the Governor offered congratulations but underscored that their real task begins now.
“This victory is not an end but a means to an end—delivering selfless, responsive, and accountable service to all residents,” he said. “Your mandate is to uplift communities, deliver good governance, and promote the welfare of every citizen, irrespective of political affiliation.”
Sanwo-Olu urged the new leaders to exhibit humility and inclusiveness, calling on them to reach across divides and serve their entire communities with equity and compassion.
He also commended party members who contested in the primaries but were not successful, encouraging them to remain loyal to the party and to collaborate with elected officials in the spirit of unity.
“The strength of the APC lies in its unity.Personal ambitions must take a back seat to the greater goal of delivering on the people’s mandate,” he asserted.
The Governor praised the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission (LASIEC) for conducting a peaceful and credible election and thanked security agencies for maintaining order during the process.
He also expressed deep appreciation to the people of Lagos for their peaceful participation, which he described as a reaffirmation of democratic values and civic responsibility.
“As the new local government administrations prepare to take office, I pledge my administration’s full support to ensure that every community feels the impact of good governance. Together, we will continue building a Greater Lagos where no one is left behind,” Sanwo-Olu concluded..
