The Lagos State Governor on Monday joined His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu represented by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume at the opening of the FAAN National Aviation Conference, where leaders and stakeholders converged to discuss the future of Nigerian aviation. The event set the stage for high-level conversations on innovation, investment, and long-term sectoral reforms

This year’s conference, themed “Leveraging the Nigerian Aviation Industry for National Economic Growth through Investment, Partnership and Global Collaborations,” underscored the critical role of aviation in national development. The Governor noted that the theme reflects the urgent work ahead as Nigeria strengthens global partnerships and deepens collaboration across the aviation value chain.
Speaking on Lagos State’s position as the country’s busiest aviation gateway, the Governor highlighted the sector’s daily contributions to economic growth, connectivity, and competitiveness. He emphasized that the state government is building a fully integrated transport system that seamlessly connects rail, road, water, and air travel, ensuring efficient movement for millions of residents and international visitors.
He further stated that Lagos’ massive transport upgrades such as the Blue and Red Line trains already in operation and the upcoming Green Line rail linking Marina to the Lekki corridor—are strategic steps that complement the development of the proposed Lekki-Epe International Airport. The airport, he explained, will support NMIA, boost industrial expansion in West Africa’s fastest-growing economic zone, and position Lagos as a top global investment destination with climate-conscious and economically impactful design features.

Reaffirming the state’s commitment to aviation growth, the Governor pledged continued collaboration with FAAN, airlines, and all aviation stakeholders to build a stronger, more competitive sector. He concluded that Lagos remains open for business and open to the world, reinforcing its vision as a dynamic hub for commerce, tourism, and global connectivity..
