The Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment has set a disciplined tone for 2026 following an inaugural First Work Day Thanksgiving Session. The Honourable Commissioner, Hon. Akinyemi Bankole Ajigbotafe, alongside Permanent Secretary Mrs. Lolade Aina, used the occasion to issue a stern but encouraging charge to the Ministry’s staff. Their message centered on four pillars: punctuality, hard work, dedication, and teamwork—qualities deemed essential for meeting the Ministry's critical mandate of job creation and economic empowerment.

Commissioner Ajigbotafe was particularly vocal about the need for discipline, cautioning staff against lateness and idleness. He reminded the team that wealth creation is not merely a policy goal on paper; it is a vital service that directly impacts the dignity and future of Lagosians. In an era of economic shifts, the Commissioner stressed that the Ministry’s programs must be meticulously designed to improve livelihoods and expand opportunities for the youth and the unemployed across the state.

The Commissioner also emphasized that no single department can achieve success in isolation. He called for "open communication and mutual support" as the Ministry prepares to strengthen existing programs and launch new initiatives tailored to the economic realities of 2026. This focus on internal collaboration is intended to streamline operations and ensure that the Ministry’s resources are used efficiently to reach the maximum number of beneficiaries.

Complementing the Commissioner’s remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Mrs. Lolade Aina, expressed her appreciation for the staff's past efforts while setting expectations for the future. She assured the team that her leadership would continue to provide an enabling environment where hard work is recognized and rewarded. By fostering a culture of excellence and unity, she aims to create a workplace where officers feel empowered to innovate and contribute to the state’s economic growth.

The session concluded with a shared sense of urgency and responsibility. As Lagos State continues to position itself as a leading economic hub, the Ministry of Wealth Creation and Employment stands at the forefront of social and financial transformation. With a renewed commitment to professionalism and a clear strategy for the year ahead, the Ministry is prepared to turn the challenges of 2026 into opportunities for prosperity for all residents of the state.
