The pursuit of academic excellence and strict adherence to state educational standards remains a top priority for Education District II in Lagos State. In an ongoing effort to ensure the smooth running of institutions, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary (TG/PS) of Education District II, Mr. Omotayo Layemo Sanni, has continued his comprehensive monitoring tour across schools within the district's jurisdiction. This crucial exercise, which began shortly after he assumed office in October, has been strategically maintained as a central mechanism for upholding quality education and strengthening institutional performance across all levels.

The monitoring initiative is fundamentally geared towards promoting accountability and supporting schools in delivering optimal teaching and learning outcomes. During his visits, Mr. Sanni engages directly with school administrators, teachers, and students, conducting a detailed assessment of various facets of school operations. Key areas under scrutiny include academic practices, the status of infrastructure, student discipline, and the overall quality of the learning environments. These vital, firsthand observations enable the TG/PS and his team to accurately identify areas that require immediate improvement, reinforcement, or strategic intervention from the district office.
Emphasizing the philosophy behind the intensive monitoring, Mr. Sanni commented during one of his recent stops, “We believe that regular monitoring is essential in maintaining high educational standards.” He stressed the collaborative nature of the effort, adding, “By working closely with schools, we hope to ensure that every student receives a quality education that prepares them for the future.”
This proactive approach highlights the district’s unwavering commitment to fostering an environment where all learners, irrespective of their location within the district, can thrive academically and personally.
The latest round of monitoring saw the TG/PS visit a significant number of schools within the Ikorodu zone, demonstrating the district's wide-ranging commitment. The schools included Agbede Junior and Senior Grammar Schools, Isawo Junior and Senior Grammar Schools, Majidun Junior and Senior Grammar Schools, Oriwu and Civil Service Junior and Senior Model Colleges, as well as Oreyo Junior Grammar School. These inspections ensure that all educational institutions are receiving the necessary attention and resources, aligning their operations with the latest state education policies.

The TG/PS underscored the importance of collective effort in the educational ecosystem. He strongly encouraged sustained community engagement, noting that active participation from parents, community leaders, and stakeholders remains critical in enhancing educational outcomes across the district. The ongoing monitoring tour thus reflects Education District II's commitment not only to compliance and quality control but also to collaborative, forward-looking strategies designed for sustainable development in the education sector.
