The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District II, Mr. Omotayo Layemo Sanni, has hosted the students and staff of Oriwu Senior Model College, Ikorodu, at the District Headquarters following the school’s remarkable victory at the Lagos State edition of the National Festival of Arts and Culture (NAFEST).

Oriwu Senior Model College, represented by Rhoda Aluko and Jomiloju Ajibefun, emerged overall winner at the State level and will represent Lagos State at the National Festival of Arts and Culture scheduled to hold in Enugu in November 2025, with the theme “Connecting Culture.
While congratulating the students on their exceptional performance, Mr. Sanni commended their creativity, courage, and commitment to excellence. He encouraged them to inspire their peers by participating actively in competitions and showcasing their talents.
The TG/PS noted that many students possess great potential but often lack the confidence to step forward. He, therefore, urged teachers and school administrators to nurture students’ abilities by offering guidance, encouragement, and constructive correction rather than criticism or intimidation, which could dampen their morale.

In his words, “Our students are full of talent and promise. What they need most is encouragement and the right support to express themselves. When we believe in them, correct them with love, and give them opportunities, they will continue to make Lagos State proud,” he said. Mr. Sanni reaffirmed the District’s commitment to promoting a robust education that combines academic excellence with cultural and creative expression.
