Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, is set to inaugurate the Badagry Network of Roads on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in a move aimed at deepening infrastructure development across the state.
The network comprises three key roads Aradagun-Mosafejo-Ilado-Imeke Road, Samuel Ekundayo Road, and Hospital Road cutting across Badagry Local Government and Olorunda Local Council Development Area.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, disclosed the development in a statement issued on Monday, noting that the Sanwo-Olu administration has so far delivered 39 roads and five bridges across the state in recent months.
“Infrastructure remains a strategic economic driver for this administration. These roads will boost trade, enhance transportation, and open up underserved areas,” Omotoso said.
The Aradagun-Mosafejo-Ilado-Imeke Road, rehabilitated and upgraded under the current administration, connects to the previously commissioned 6.65km dual carriageway featuring a 300-metre bridge. This network links Imeke, Ajido, and Iworo to Epeme Road and provides an alternative route to the Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Samuel Ekundayo/Toga Road connects
Joseph Dosu Road and integrates with the Aradagun-Mosafejo project. It serves as a vital bypass to decongest traffic from Badagry Roundabout to the Limca/Ibereko section of the expressway.
Hospital Road (Phase 1) runs from Agbalata Market Junction to the Lagos State University (LASU) Foundation and links several communities, including Idale, Povita, Topo, and Ajido. It also offers access to key tourist and historical landmarks such as the Agiya Tree Monument, Nigeria’s first storey building, the Heritage Museum, and Badagry General Hospital.
According to the state government, the completed projects are expected to stimulate economic activity, promote communal interaction, improve access to tourist attractions, and contribute to both state and national GDP growth.
“This administration remains committed to projects that enhance the quality of life and promote shared prosperity. The Badagry road projects exemplify our drive toward sustainable development and efficient intermodal transportation,” the statement added.
The inauguration is part of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s broader THEMES Plus agenda, with road infrastructure anchored under the ‘T’ pillar for Traffic Management and Transportation.
