Sanwo-Olu Representative Applauds Coleman Fibre Optic Cable Factory

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has commended Coleman Technical Industries Limited on the commissioning of its Fibre Optic Cable Factory (Phase II), describing the milestone as a powerful testament to the company’s 50-year legacy of resilience, innovation, and excellence. The Governor, represented by the Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada Ambrose, spoke during the company’s Golden Jubilee celebration held at its new factory in Makun, Sagamu, Ogun State, on Wednesday.

Governor Sanwo-Olu congratulated Coleman Wires & Cables, its founder, Asiwaju Solomon Kayode Onafowokan, management, and staff for achieving such a remarkable feat, noting that the new Fibre Optic Cable Factory signifies more than just industrial growth—it represents a commitment to the future of Nigeria’s digital transformation. He emphasized that in a data-driven world, fibre optics form the backbone of the digital economy, connecting schools, hospitals, businesses, and communities while opening access to education, healthcare, and opportunities for millions of Nigerians.
He expressed pride in Coleman’s strong Lagos roots and reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to supporting the company’s next phase of growth. “When companies like Coleman thrive, Lagos prospers; and when Lagos prospers, Nigeria prospers,” the Governor stated, highlighting the ripple effects of such success through job creation, technology transfer, and skill development. He added that this growth aligns with the State’s vision of building a modern, productive, and globally connected economy.
Sanwo-Olu noted that the commissioning of the Phase II Fibre Optic Cable Factory marks Coleman’s bold step into the future of digital infrastructure. He praised the company for proving that “Made-in-Nigeria” products can meet and surpass global standards, reinforcing Lagos as a hub for industry, innovation, and investment. The Governor lauded the company’s resilience in sustaining operations for five decades despite economic challenges, describing its journey as a testament to vision, hard work, and faith in Nigeria’s potential.

Concluding his remarks, Governor Sanwo-Olu described Coleman’s 50th anniversary as more than a corporate celebration it is a symbol of Nigerian creativity and resourcefulness. He said the company’s success story should inspire young entrepreneurs to believe in the possibility of building world-class businesses within Nigeria. “Coleman’s golden jubilee reminds us that the Nigeria we aspire to—industrial, innovative, and inclusive—is within our grasp,” he said.
