Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, led a high-powered delegation on a site inspection of the mural installations along Ozumba Mbadiwe Road. Accompanied by the Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, and the General Manager of LASPARK, Mrs. Adetoun Popoola, the Governor reviewed the progress of the Lagos Street Art Festival. The inspection focused on the government’s ongoing urban beautification efforts, which aim to promote community-driven public art and cultural tourism. This initiative aligns with the broader vision of the Sanwo-Olu administration to create a cleaner, greener, and more visually appealing environment for residents and visitors alike. By transforming public spaces into points of interest, the state seeks to foster a sense of pride and ownership among Lagosians while enhancing the city's aesthetic value.

During the visit, the Lagos Street Art Festival was described as a "living, breathing canvas" that effectively turns the city into an expansive open-air museum. The Governor noted that the project allows walls to tell stories and reimagines everyday streets as galleries of wonder. This creative transformation is designed to engage the public and provide a platform for local artists to showcase their talents on a massive scale.

Beyond aesthetics, the initiative is a strategic move to reinforce the vibrant cultural identity of Lagos on the global stage. By positioning the city as a premier destination for creative expression, the government hopes to attract international tourists and investors interested in the burgeoning African art scene. The murals along the Ozumba Mbadiwe corridor are expected to become iconic landmarks that define the modern spirit of the state.

As the festival progresses, the state government remains dedicated to ensuring that Lagos continues to lead as a hub for innovation and cultural excellence. This project marks another milestone in the journey toward making Lagos a truly 21st-century megacity.
