Lagos State Governor, Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu, has called on civil servants to broaden their knowledge of government policies and activities, stressing the importance of speaking from an informed position.

The Governor gave the charge during a virtual session of the Lagos State Public Service Accelerator Programme’s Fireside Chat Series, themed “Experiential Learning with Communication, Courtesy, and Credibility: Humanising Public Institutions.” He described the initiative as a vital platform for continuous learning and urged participants to adopt a “Pass-It-On” approach to knowledge sharing within Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs).

Highlighting the role of human capital in the state’s development, Sanwo-Olu said: “We must build our people if we are to secure a better future for Lagos State,” adding that personal and professional growth requires sustained learning, relevant skills, and productive engagement with colleagues.

Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Afolabi Ayantayo, explained that the programme equips officers with leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills to resolve conflicts, influence positive change, and drive innovation. He noted its emphasis on emotional intelligence, adaptability, and the integration of digital tools into public service.

Permanent Secretary, Olubusola Abidakun, disclosed that 100 participants were selected through a rigorous, gender-balanced process across various MDAs. Since its launch on May 29, 2025, the programme has delivered training on personal branding, workplace relationships, mental health, cybersecurity, diplomacy, financial literacy, and the application of artificial intelligence in governance.

The Fireside Chat with Governor Sanwo-Olu marks a major milestone for the programme, reinforcing the state’s commitment to building a professional and innovative public service capable of meeting the demands of modern governance.
