Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu recently stopped by Ozumba Mbadiwe Road to appreciate the stunning transformation of the area, which has been turned from a blank canvas into an expressive art gallery through the display of new murals. These artworks are a core component of the Lagos Street Art Festival, where artists from across Nigeria and beyond have been leaving their unique stories and artistic expression on the city's walls.

The Governor's visit highlights the state government's embrace of public art as a means of beautification and cultural expression. He championed the idea that "Art belongs in the open, where everyone can experience it, not just in galleries," advocating for the democratization of creative works. These murals, he noted, are a reflection of the city’s character: "bold, expressive, and full of life."
He expressed profound gratitude to every artist who poured their time, talent, and heart into the project. The Governor emphasized that their work has added significant color to the daily commute of residents, serving as a powerful reminder that "creativity lives right here, on our streets," embedding art within the urban landscape.
The Street Art Festival initiative aligns with the government’s efforts to improve the city's aesthetics and foster a vibrant arts and culture scene. By turning public infrastructure into a platform for creativity, Lagos is positioning itself as a hub for contemporary urban art in West Africa.

Governor Sanwo-Olu concluded his appreciation by encouraging residents and visitors passing through the area to "take a moment to look around," urging them to engage with the art and experience the spirit of the city. "This is Lagos," he stated, celebrating the city's artistic and expressive identity.
