The Lagos State Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mr. Jamiu Tolani Alli-Balogun, has hailed retired officers of the Office of Education Quality Assurance (OEQA) as some of the state’s most valuable assets. Speaking at the 2025 Retirees’ Send-Off in Alausa, the Commissioner credited the agency’s success to the individual dedication and lifelong contributions of these veterans

During the event, the Commissioner reaffirmed the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to maintaining high educational standards through institutional reforms and capacity building. He urged the retirees to remain active in the sector, noting that their wealth of experience remains critical in shaping a future-ready education system for the state.

Supporting this sentiment, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Mrs. Abisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, likened OEQA evaluators to the "police officers of education." She urged serving officers to emulate the integrity and professionalism of their retired colleagues to ensure that the quality of education in Lagos remains beyond reproach.

In a forward-looking address, the Director-General of OEQA, Dr. Sulaimon Ogunmuyiwa, outlined a bold vision for 2026. He announced a shift from traditional "policing" to a professionalized center of excellence, focusing on international certification and the total automation of quality assurance processes to eliminate paper-heavy workflows

A major highlight of this digital shift is the upcoming launch of a Quality Assurance App for real-time reporting. Dr. Ogunmuyiwa pledged that OEQA would become the most technologically advanced agency of its kind in Africa, leveraging innovation and synchronised data management to drive excellence across all Lagos schools.
