The Lagos State Ministry of Health has officially entered a new leadership chapter with the formal reception of Dr. Dayo Lajide as its Permanent Secretary. Following her redeployment from Health District II by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Dr. Lajide was welcomed back to the ministry’s Alausa headquarters in an event described by colleagues as a "symbolic homecoming.

The transition is viewed as a strategic move to strengthen the ministry’s administrative capacity following the intense demands of the previous year.
Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, hailed Dr. Lajide’s return, citing a professional partnership that has spanned nearly two decades.
He emphasized that her experience is exactly what the ministry needs to navigate the complexities of public health in a post-pandemic era. Prof. Abayomi also took a moment to thank Dr. Folashade Oludara, the Acting Permanent Secretary, for her stellar leadership during the sensitive budget defense period, showcasing the depth of talent within the Lagos civil service.
In her inaugural address to the staff, Dr. Lajide called for a culture of "focus over distractions." She pledged an open-door policy and urged employees at all levels to prioritize self-development and hard work.

With a clear mandate to improve staff welfare and institutional productivity, the new Permanent Secretary expressed her firm belief that a united workforce would take the Lagos State Ministry of Health to unprecedented heights in 2026.
