The Honourable Commissioner for the Ministry of Waterfront Infrastructure Development, Hon. Dayo Bush Alebiosu, met with the management team today to review the Ministry’s accomplishments and set a renewed strategic direction for the year 2026. He applauded the staff for their dedication, noting that the progress achieved so far reflects the resilience and commitment of the entire workforce. According to him, the Ministry remains central to Lagos State’s long-term infrastructure and sustainable development goals.

Hon. Alebiosu outlined several key achievements recorded under his administration, including the development of critical waterfront schemes such as the Okun-Ajah Scheme, Okunde Scheme, Agboyi Ketu Jetty, and other major projects across the State. He stressed that enforcement efforts will be strengthened in 2026 to protect the interests of rightful property owners within these schemes. Addressing the issue of encroachment, he declared that the Ministry must match the intensity of illegal occupants with firm and decisive enforcement actions.

Looking forward to Y2026, the Commissioner revealed that the Ministry will adopt a new policy direction designed to enhance efficiency and improve service delivery. He emphasized that it will not be business as usual, noting that the renewed approach aims to boost staff morale, streamline operations, and align the Ministry more closely with the State’s broader developmental agenda. The new direction, he said, is expected to inspire a stronger sense of purpose and professionalism across all departments.

Hon. Alebiosu also announced that the Ministry will strengthen its collaboration with the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development and its Agencies. This enhanced synergy, he explained, is already taking shape and is intended to ensure full compliance with Lagos State’s building and construction regulations. By working more closely together, the Ministries aim to promote orderly development across waterfront areas, enforce standards, and improve the overall quality of infrastructural planning and execution.

The Permanent Secretary, Esv. Wasiu Olayinka, also addressed the management team, urging Heads of Departments and Units to embrace teamwork and foster stronger internal synergy. He stressed that unity, cooperation, and collective responsibility will be vital for achieving the Ministry’s 2026 goals. According to him, a culture of collaboration will not only improve productivity but also propel the Ministry to greater heights in the coming year.
