The Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) has issued a timely advisory to residents, urging vigilance and responsible behavior during the festive season. As social activities and travel peak, the agency emphasized that the joy of the holidays should not lead to a compromise in personal health. The message serves as a reminder to stay safe amidst increased social interactions.

LSACA CEO, Dr. Folakemi Animashaun, highlighted that personal responsibility is the most effective tool in preventing the spread of HIV and other STIs. She encouraged Lagosians to make informed decisions and utilize the various health services provided by the state. The agency’s goal is to ensure that the yuletide remains a season of celebration rather than one of future regret.
A significant portion of the agency's message focused on the eradication of social stigma associated with HIV. Dr. Animashaun reminded the public that HIV is a health condition, not a moral failing, and that compassion is essential. By rejecting discrimination, the community can better support those living with the virus and encourage more people to seek testing.
To support the public, LSACA reiterated that free HIV Testing and Counselling (HTC) services are available at designated facilities across Lagos. These services are professional, confidential, and easily accessible to all residents. Knowing one's status is promoted as a vital step toward early care and effective long-term health management.

The agency concluded by calling on community leaders, parents, and faith-based organizations to promote positive values and accurate health information. LSACA reaffirmed its commitment to safeguarding public health and working toward ending HIV as a public threat. The statement ended with a warm wish for a peaceful and healthy celebration for all Lagosians.
