The Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) has partnered with Elevate Her UK, a British non-profit organisation, to equip young women across Africa and the diaspora with the tools, confidence, and connections to lead transformational change.
The partnership was showcased at the Diaspora Girls Connect Summit, held recently at the Wheatbaker Hotel in Ikoyi, Lagos. The event brought together emerging leaders, professionals, and advocates from across continents for a day of dialogue, mentorship, and networking focused on empowering the next generation of women leaders.
Through engaging panel discussions, storytelling sessions, and interactive workshops, participants explored critical themes around identity, purpose-driven leadership, diaspora engagement, and sustainable development. The summit also highlighted the power of cross-border collaboration in driving social impact and building inclusive leadership.
Executive Secretary of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy, Mrs. Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade, described the initiative as a significant step toward creating a network of empowered young women with a global mindset.

“At the heart of initiatives like the Diaspora Girls Connect Summit lies a shared purpose to build bridges of empowerment, collaboration, and leadership that transcend borders,” she said. “By equipping young women with the confidence, capacity, and connection they need to drive meaningful change, we are investing in a generation that will redefine leadership across Africa and beyond.”
Founded by Ebony King, Elevate Her UK is a registered charity in England and Wales dedicated to supporting vulnerable teenage girls and young women through mentoring, life-skills development, and community-based programmes. The organisation helps participants build resilience and leadership skills to create lasting personal and societal change.
The collaboration between LJLA and Elevate Her UK reinforces both organisations’ shared mission of promoting leadership, mentorship, and community development among women. It also aligns with LJLA’s broader vision of nurturing ethical, capable, and purpose-driven leaders equipped to contribute meaningfully to Africa’s growth and global development.
