The Alumni Association of the Lateef Jakande Leadership Academy (LJLA) has launched the “Stay in School Project,” a community impact initiative aimed at supporting 200 students of Comprehensive High School, Alapere, with essential learning materials, mentorship, and life skills training. Held on Thursday, October 30, 2025, the event demonstrated the Academy’s commitment to nurturing leadership through service and empowering young people to achieve their fullest potential. The project aligns with the Academy’s mission of fostering civic responsibility and educational advancement among future leaders.

Speaking at the event, the President of the LJLA Alumni Association, Mrs. Adepeju Balogun-Awe, described the initiative as a reflection of the Academy’s enduring vision to raise leaders who contribute meaningfully to their communities. She explained that the Stay in School Project goes beyond a donation drive, representing a long-term investment in the lives of students. “Every pencil, notebook, and mentoring session is a seed we are planting to inspire excellence, discipline, and purpose in these young minds. We want every student here to understand that their dreams are valid and achievable with hard work and the right support,” she stated.

Through the initiative, over 200 students benefited from the distribution of educational materials and interactive mentorship sessions. The sessions focused on helping students build resilience, set goals, and develop a positive mindset toward academic and personal growth. Alumni members also engaged directly with the students, sharing practical lessons from their own leadership journeys and encouraging them to stay focused and committed to their education.

Representing the Executive Secretary of the Academy, Mrs. Ayisat Agbaje-Okunade, the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mr. Abiodun Oduyebo, commended the Alumni Association for exemplifying the Academy’s values of service, leadership, and social impact. He reaffirmed the Academy’s dedication to supporting alumni-led initiatives that advance education, promote civic engagement, and empower young people across Lagos State and beyond. According to him, the project serves as a model for how leadership development can translate into tangible contributions to society.

The event left a lasting impression on both students and organizers. One of the beneficiaries, Mosunmola Akinwunbi, a Senior Secondary School III student, expressed her gratitude, noting that the mentorship inspired her to believe in her potential. “Sometimes it feels like nobody sees our struggles, but today I feel encouraged,” she said. The Stay in School Project reinforces the LJLA Alumni’s broader mission to promote educational equity and community development, underscoring the Academy’s belief that true leadership begins with service and that empowering the next generation is the foundation for sustainable progress
