The Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA) has officially inaugurated a Technical and Project Monitoring Team to ensure the highest standards of execution for its 2026 projects. The inauguration took place during a New Year prayer and thanksgiving session, signaling a move toward greater accountability in urban planning. The General Manager of LASURA, Tpl/Esv. Oladimeji Animashaun, stated that the team’s primary mission is to ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to technical specifications.

The newly formed team will be responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of LASURA's interventions, from initial planning to final implementation. This move is part of a broader strategy to transform Lagos through sustainable urban regeneration practices. By having a dedicated unit for monitoring, the agency aims to eliminate inefficiencies and ensure that urban renewal projects truly improve the quality of life for residents in blighted areas.

General Manager Animashaun emphasized that transparency and excellence must be the hallmarks of the agency's operations in the new year. He called for seamless collaboration between the monitoring team and other departments within the agency. The goal is to create a unified front that can effectively tackle the complexities of urban decay and infrastructure development in a rapidly growing megacity like Lagos.

During the ceremony, staff were also encouraged to reciprocate the government’s commitment to their welfare by increasing their productivity. Animashaun urged officers to "improve on their strengths and seek assistance where necessary" to meet the administration's high expectations. The event was attended by senior management, including the Director of Administration and Human Resources, Mrs. Yemi Alaga, and other key directors.

As LASURA embarks on its 2026 roadmap, the inauguration of this technical team is expected to provide the oversight necessary for "A Greater Lagos Rising." The agency remains committed to working with all stakeholders to achieve sustainable urban goals. With a focus on technical standards and prompt delivery, LASURA is positioning itself as a leader in innovative urban management for the new year.
