The Lagos State Urban Renewal Agency (LASURA) has commenced the second batch of enumeration for property owners affected by the Oworonshoki regeneration exercise. The exercise, which began on November 3, 2025, is aimed at capturing additional residents who were not included in the initial phase. The enumeration was held at the Oloworo Palace in Oworonshoki and witnessed the active participation of LASURA officials, community leaders, and security agencies to ensure a smooth and transparent process.

Speaking during the exercise, the General Manager of LASURA, Tpl/Esv. Oladimeji Animashaun, reaffirmed the commitment of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to compensating all affected property owners in line with the government’s promise. He commended the Governor’s sincerity and dedication, citing the earlier disbursement of compensation to 79 displaced residents during the first phase as a testament to the administration’s integrity and compassion.

Animashaun also expressed appreciation to the Special Adviser on E-GIS and Urban Development, Dr. Olajide Babatunde, and the Permanent Secretary, Office of Urban Development, Arc. Gbolahan Oki, for their continued support and involvement in the regeneration project. He emphasized that the collaboration among government agencies has been instrumental in ensuring fairness and efficiency in the compensation process.

As part of the exercise, affected residents were instructed to submit necessary documents, including LASSRA identification cards, passport photographs, land receipts or deeds of conveyance, and bank details. A verification committee made up of LASURA staff, community representatives, and affected property owners was set up to authenticate the documents. Once verified, cheques would be presented to eligible residents as compensation for their properties.

Representatives of First City Monument Bank (FCMB) were also on-site to facilitate account openings for residents without existing bank accounts, ensuring that every deserving individual could seamlessly receive payment. Residents expressed gratitude to Governor Sanwo-Olu and the LASURA team for their transparency, diligence, and commitment to fulfilling promises, describing the exercise as a commendable step toward inclusive urban development and community renewal in Oworonshoki.
