The General Manager of the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK), Mrs. Adetoun Popoola, has expressed appreciation to the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Education District VI, Mrs. Mojisola Yusuf, for the district’s support during the recently held Green Hands Creative Gardening for Kids programme. She made this known during a courtesy visit to the headquarters of Education District VI, where she commended the management for its cooperation and encouragement towards the success of the Agency’s environmental education initiative.

Represented by Mr. Idowu Sunday, Mrs. Popoola explained that the visit was primarily to thank the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary for approving the participation of students from her district in the October 8, 2025 edition of the Green Hands Creative Gardening for Kids initiative. She described the programme as a flagship environmental education project designed to nurture young ambassadors for a greener and more sustainable Lagos, adding that the active involvement of schools has greatly contributed to its growing impact across the state.
During the visit, Mrs. Popoola also sought to strengthen collaboration between LASPARK and Education District VI in areas of mutual interest, particularly in promoting environmental sustainability, tree planting, and other greening initiatives within schools. She emphasized that working closely with the education sector is essential to instilling environmental consciousness in young learners, helping them understand the importance of protecting and sustaining natural ecosystems from an early age.
In her response, the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary of Education District VI, Mrs. Mojisola Yusuf, commended LASPARK for its consistent and innovative approach to promoting environmental education among children. She applauded the Agency’s commitment to grooming environmentally responsible students and pledged the district’s continued partnership in advancing environmental sustainability efforts within the education system. Mrs. Yusuf noted that environmental awareness and sustainability are integral to the State’s holistic approach to quality education and youth development.

The Green Hands Creative Gardening for Kids programme, organised by LASPARK, remains one of the Agency’s key initiatives aimed at engaging children in hands-on environmental learning experiences. Through creative gardening activities, the programme fosters teamwork, creativity, and a lasting appreciation for nature among young participants. It also reinforces the Lagos State Government’s Greener Lagos agenda, which prioritises environmental stewardship and community involvement in building a cleaner, greener, and healthier city for all.
