The General Manager of the Lagos State Parks and Gardens Agency (LASPARK), Mrs. Adetoun Popoola, has reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Ikoyi-Obalende Local Council Development Authority (LCDA) in promoting environmental sustainability and green infrastructure across the council area..

During a courtesy visit to the Chairman of Ikoyi-Obalende LCDA, Mr. Bola Oladunjoye, Mrs. Popoola congratulated the council boss on his election and described Ikoyi as a unique blend of rich history and vibrant community life with strategic importance to Lagos State. She noted that the area remains central to the State Government’s vision for a greener and healthier Lagos.
Highlighting LASPARK’s ongoing projects in the locality, the General Manager cited landmark initiatives such as the RF Garden and the BMX Skate Park at Osborne, developed in partnership with Red Bull. She explained that these projects demonstrate the State Government’s commitment to creating inclusive recreational spaces and promoting eco-friendly urban living.
Mrs. Popoola, however, stressed the need for stronger synergy between LASPARK and the LCDA to tackle the challenges posed by rapid urban development, especially the issue of unauthorised tree felling. She called on the council to assist the agency by promptly reporting such incidents to prevent environmental degradation and preserve the natural ecosystem.

In his response, the LCDA Chairman, Mr. Bola Oladunjoye, pledged his administration’s full cooperation with LASPARK, expressing determination to plant thousands of trees across the LCDA as part of his environmental renewal agenda. He assured that despite financial limitations, his administration remains committed to restoring Ikoyi’s historic beauty and working hand-in-hand with LASPARK to achieve a greener, cleaner, and more sustainable community.
