The Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA) has once again demonstrated its dedication to disability inclusion by providing financial assistance to registered NGOs, Homes, Foundations and Cluster groups serving persons with disabilities. The support exercise, held on November 21, 2025, at the LASODA premises, reflects the State Government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring that disability-focused organisations receive the encouragement they need to sustain their impact.

Representing the General Manager, Mrs. Adenike Oyetunde-Lawal, the Deputy Director of Finance and Accounts, Mr. Akinbule Adesola Hezekiah, welcomed beneficiaries warmly and reiterated that the initiative aligns with Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s vision for an inclusive Lagos. He described the gesture as a modest but meaningful acknowledgment of the dedication and resilience shown by organisations working tirelessly within the disability community.
Mr. Hezekiah emphasized that the annual support programme serves as both motivation and appreciation for stakeholders, urging all disability-focused groups to maintain strong collaboration with LASODA in pursuit of shared goals. Mrs. Oyetunde-Lawal further encouraged persons with disabilities who have not yet registered with the Agency to take advantage of its open-door policy, assuring them that LASODA remains a “home” designed to support their needs. She also appealed to organisations to regularly provide updates and reports so the Agency can co-create solutions that better serve individuals and caregivers in the disability ecosystem.
Also speaking at the event, the Director of Social Development and Integration, Mr. Kelani Akeem, stressed the importance of accountability among NGOs, Homes and Foundations. He explained that although more than 100 groups are currently registered with LASODA, 25 organisations were selected for this phase of support based on set criteria and activity levels. This, he said, ensures that government resources go to organisations actively contributing to disability inclusion across the State..

Expressing gratitude on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Felicia Martins, CEO of So-Said Charity Home for Vulnerable Persons, commended the Lagos State Government for its sustained support. She affirmed that “every disability is a possibility,” urging individuals with disabilities to remain hopeful despite challenges. She also reassured them that caregivers and support institutions remain committed to their progress. Other beneficiaries included the Irede Foundation, Excellent Child Initiative, Tolajoke Foundation, SAFREL Speech and Language Development Centre, Igbehin Adun Special School, Iyaniwura Foundation and several others.
