The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed that sustainable solutions must start with personal responsibility as climate change and environmental challenges continue to intensify globally. Residents were reminded that awareness and individual actions are crucial to building a healthier environment.

Speaking at the 2025 Environmental Bees Club Sensitisation Programme in Alausa, the Permanent Secretary, Office of Environmental Services, Dr. Tajudeen Gaji, emphasized that the initiative goes beyond sharing information. He noted that the programme is designed to inspire real change by empowering young people to act as environmental ambassadors.
This year’s sensitisation focused on practical environmental stewardship, encouraging students to think critically and act responsibly within their communities. The introduction of the Eco-Winner Sustainability Tour added excitement and rewarded students who demonstrated outstanding commitment to environmental protection.
The government reiterated its dedication to policies that promote waste management reforms, green infrastructure, renewable energy, and public awareness. However, officials stressed that the success of these initiatives depends on collective responsibility from students, teachers, parents, and communities.

The event also highlighted the vital role of EBC handlers, whose guidance bridges policy and practice in schools. It ended with prize presentations to outstanding students, reinforcing the message that their knowledge and actions today will shape a more sustainable Lagos tomorrow.
