The Lagos State Government has reiterated its commitment to ensuring the security of life and property through targeted youth-oriented programs. Speaking at the closing ceremony of the 2025 Police Youth Dialogue held at the Anchor Events Centre, Agidingbi, Ikeja, the Honourable Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, emphasized that keeping young people engaged is key to building a safer Lagos. He also highlighted efforts to strengthen the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) as part of the state’s broader strategy to maintain peace.

Commissioner Ogunlende stressed the importance of partnership between the youth and law enforcement agencies, noting that mutual understanding is vital for progress. "The youth must see the police as their friend while the police must see the youth as their partners," he said, urging both sides to work together to eliminate hostility and build a united front for societal development.
Guest Speaker, Muiz Banire, SAN, described the Police Youth Dialogue as a timely initiative that brings the youth and law enforcement agencies together to foster collaboration. He underscored the importance of respecting human rights and understanding constitutional responsibilities, noting that security and societal progress are only achievable through partnership and mutual accountability.
HRM Oba Omogbolahan Lawal, CON, Oniru of Iru Kingdom, identified socio-economic frustrations, weak civic culture, and stereotyping as key factors driving distrust between youth and the police. He encouraged practical measures anchored on dialogue, mentorship, volunteering, and accountability to build trust and reduce crime, advocating for a shift from confrontation to collaboration.

Permanent Secretary Pharm (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu and Lagos Commissioner of Police, Mr. Moshood Jimoh, both emphasized that partnership is essential for a peaceful society. Plans are underway to establish a Youth Advisory Council to provide a platform for addressing youth concerns, further strengthening collaboration between law enforcement and young Lagosians.
