In a heart-warming gesture of social inclusion, the Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development has disbursed five million naira in financial assistance to seven families blessed with multiple births. The ceremony, held at the Alausa Secretariat, was part of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s policy to ensure that the dividends of good governance reach the most vulnerable and unique households in the state.

The Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende, stated that the financial aid is intended to ease the significant burden of raising multiple children at once. He acknowledged that while the sum might not cover all expenses, it serves as a vital support system to help families celebrate the yuletide season. The Commissioner noted that the state views children as "treasures" who require a solid foundation to become future leaders.
Permanent Secretary Pharm (Mrs.) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu added that the selection process for the beneficiaries was transparent and open to all residents, regardless of tribe or religion. She clarified that the only requirements are that the children were born in Lagos and their parents are residents. This annual initiative is managed by the Child Development Department to ensure sustained support for families facing the unique costs of triplets and quadruplets.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Uwaoma Teddy Odili, spoke on behalf of the families, expressing profound gratitude to the state government. He also took the opportunity to praise the medical personnel at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) for their professionalism. He noted that the expertise of the state's medical team was instrumental in the safe delivery of his quadruplets, highlighting the quality of the public healthcare system.

This financial intervention underscores the administration’s "Social Inclusion" pillar of the T.H.E.M.E.S+ Agenda. By investing in the welfare of these children today, the government aims to secure a better future for the state. The event concluded with an admonition to the parents to continue providing proper care and guidance for their children, who are considered the future of a Greater Lagos.
