In a proactive effort to regulate noise pollution and protect the environment, particularly during the upcoming festive season, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) is organizing a crucial one-day workshop for all hospitality and entertainment businesses. The workshop, titled: "Harmonizing Hospitality Industry with the Environment" and themed: “Effective Noise Control and Compliance,” is scheduled for Friday, 19th December 2025.

LASEPA’s General Manager, Dr. Tunde Ajayi, disclosed that the event is specifically designed to engage key players, including operators and owners of Nightlife venues, Event Centres, Restaurants, Hotels, Lounges, and Disc Jockeys (DJs), on the urgent need for moderate noise levels during the Yuletide. This intervention is crucial due to the well-documented negative impact of excessive noise on human health and overall community well-being.
The General Manager explained that the workshop will provide hospitality businesses with practical guidance to understand and meet all required environmental standards, helping them avoid penalties and successfully operate within the clear confines of the Lagos State Environmental Laws and regulations. The ultimate goal is to foster a safe and harmonious urban environment throughout the festive period and beyond.
The event, which will take place at the State Treasury Office Resource Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, is expected to attract top government officials, including the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, and the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Engr. Olakunle Rotimi. This high-level participation underscores the seriousness of the government’s commitment to environmental regulation.

Dr. Ajayi strongly encouraged all relevant operators in the hospitality and entertainment industry to fully participate in this important engagement. He stressed that the workshop is aimed at improving compliance, fostering sustainability, and supporting the continued growth of the industry while ensuring Lagos residents can enjoy a quiet, noiseless, and peaceful moment during their Christmas celebrations.
