In a proactive move to reduce road accidents during the high-traffic festive season, the Lagos State Drivers' Institute (LASDRI) has partnered with Guinness Nigeria Plc and the Coalition of Driving Schools. The partnership kicked off an "auto-cade" safety advocacy campaign at the Ojota-Toll Gate corridor. The initiative is designed to reinforce safety messages and encourage responsible driving behavior as the year comes to a close.

General Manager of LASDRI, Mrs. Afusat Tiamiyu, revealed that the institute has been active since September, using radio jingles and animations to spread safety tips. The "Ember Months" campaign specifically targets human factors that contribute to road crashes, such as distracted driving, speeding, and driving under the influence. By engaging directly with the motoring public, LASDRI hopes to create a safer environment for both drivers and pedestrians.

The advocacy efforts have been extended to several major motor parks across the state, including Iyana Iba, Iyana Ipaja, and the Apapa Trailer Park. Tiamiyu noted that transport union members and public drivers are key stakeholders in this mission. The goal is to make road safety practical and memorable through festive illustrations and simple advice that resonates with the daily experiences of road users.

During the event, Mrs. Tiamiyu commended Guinness Nigeria and various traffic management agencies for their support. She emphasized that road safety is a shared responsibility that requires the collaboration of government, private corporate bodies, and the public. The presence of LASTMA, VIS, and FRSC officials at the campaign launch signaled a unified front against road traffic violations.

As the festive season reaches its peak, LASDRI continues to urge all motorists to remain alert and prioritize the lives of their passengers. The institute maintains that public enlightenment is the most effective tool for curbing the surge in accidents often associated with the end of the year. The campaign serves as a timely reminder that arriving safely is the ultimate priority for every road user.
