Following the cancellation of the "Greater Lagos Countdown," the Lagos State Government has called on residents to welcome the New Year with prayer and deep reflection. The state encouraged citizens to focus on personal growth and the collective progress achieved throughout the outgoing year.

Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, noted that the end of 2025 serves as a vital pause for the community. She urged Lagosians to take stock of their achievements while renewing their dedication to the peace and unity of the state.

The government emphasized that this period should be used to strengthen family bonds and promote harmony within neighborhoods. Despite the absence of the traditional large-scale festivities, the spirit of resilience and compassion that defines Lagos remains the central focus of the season.

The Commissioner expressed heartfelt gratitude to the partners, creatives, and residents who have historically supported the state's cultural celebrations. Their contributions have turned the year-end events into symbols of hope and togetherness for millions of people.

Looking ahead, the state remains optimistic about the promises of 2026. The government extended its warmest wishes for a prosperous, healthy, and fulfilling New Year to every resident across the metropolis.
