The Lagos State Ministry of Establishments and Training has commenced a specialised capacity-building programme for paramilitary officers drawn from the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), Vehicle Inspection Office (VIO), and Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps (LAGESC). The training, themed “Public Relations in Enhancing Brand Visibility and Credibility in Lagos State,” is designed to equip officers with communication skills that project a positive image of their agencies while upholding the values of integrity, professionalism, and public trust.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Establishments and Training, Mrs. Olubusola Abidakun, represented by the Director of Training, Mrs. Modupe Animasaun, highlighted the crucial role paramilitary officers play in maintaining law, order, and public safety across the state. She noted that beyond their operational duties, the way officers interact with the public significantly shapes the perception of government institutions.

Mrs. Abidakun stressed that effective public engagement and transparent communication are vital tools for enhancing citizens’ confidence in government agencies. She added that the training aims to improve officers’ interpersonal relations and ensure that Lagos State’s enforcement teams are not only efficient but also approachable and respectful in the discharge of their duties.

The training brings together more than 200 officers from LASTMA, VIO, and LAGESC at the Ojodu Resource Centre. Participants will undergo sessions focusing on communication ethics, image management, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution — all essential components of modern public service delivery.

Through this initiative, the Lagos State Government continues to demonstrate its commitment to professional development and institutional excellence. By investing in the capacity of its paramilitary officers, the state reinforces its vision of building a responsive, people-centered, and credible public service system.
