The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, has officially set the agenda for the 2026 work year. During an inaugural management meeting held on Tuesday, January 6, she charged staff and agencies to recommit to their statutory mandates. The meeting brought together leaders from the Ministry, the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture, and the Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board.

Mrs. Oyekan-Ismaila emphasized that the new year requires a proactive and disciplined approach. She stressed that every officer must be fully aligned with the Ministry’s vision and the policy direction of the State Government. According to the Permanent Secretary, understanding one's specific mandate is the first step toward promoting the vibrancy of the Lagos State Government.

Central to her address was the theme of unity and collaboration. She noted that a positive attitude and teamwork are essential for effective service delivery across the various tourism sectors. By ensuring everyone is "on the same page," she believes the Ministry can more effectively achieve its collective goals for the year.

The Permanent Secretary also urged the management team to embrace "continuous self-rebranding." She highlighted the importance of modern public service standards, integrity, and a focus on departmental responsibilities. This call to action is intended to keep the Ministry relevant in an ever-evolving cultural landscape.

The session concluded with an interactive segment where management staff shared strategies for improved performance. Participants discussed their work schedules and specific duties, vowing to enhance the Ministry's impact. The meeting marks a firm commitment to making 2026 a landmark year for Lagos tourism and arts.
