The vibrant intersection of culture and pageantry was on full display at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, during the Miss One Nigeria Grand Finale. The event, themed “Unity in Diversity,” served as a prestigious platform to celebrate the rich and multifaceted cultural heritage of Nigeria. It attracted a diverse audience of creative industry stakeholders, tourism enthusiasts, and cultural advocates, all gathered to witness the crowning of a new ambassador of national unity.

Delivering the keynote address, the Special Adviser to the Lagos State Governor on Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr. Idris Aregbe, highlighted the transformative power of the creative sector. He noted that beauty pageants, when properly structured, serve as more than just competitions; they are vital instruments for fostering social cohesion and national pride. Mr. Aregbe emphasized that such events provide a unique opportunity for young Nigerians to showcase their intelligence and cultural roots.

The atmosphere at the grand finale was a testament to the state's commitment to making Lagos a global destination for tourism and arts. Through its support of such events, the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture continues to provide platforms that highlight the role of the creative economy in driving national development. The theme of the night resonated deeply, reminding attendees that Nigeria’s strength lies in the harmonious blend of its various ethnic and cultural identities.

Stakeholders at the event praised the organizers for maintaining a high standard of professionalism and for focusing on the values of integrity and cultural awareness. The pageant successfully moved beyond aesthetics to address the importance of community service and leadership among the youth. By aligning with these values, the event mirrored the broader objectives of the Lagos State Government to empower young citizens as ambassadors of peace and progress.

The Miss One Nigeria Grand Finale concluded as a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on the role of pageantry in the 21st century. As the winner begins her reign, the focus will remain on promoting the "Unity in Diversity" message across the nation. Lagos State, through its continued patronage of the arts, remains at the forefront of using cultural diplomacy to build a more united and prosperous Nigeria.
