The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, graced the Lanre Da Silva 20th Anniversary Fashion Show on Sunday, 16th November 2025, held at the prestigious Royal Box on Adeola Odeku Street, Victoria Island. The event drew industry leaders, fashion enthusiasts, and cultural stakeholders who gathered to honour two decades of outstanding creativity by one of Nigeria’s most influential designers.

The Commissioner celebrated Lanre Da Silva Ajayi’s remarkable journey, describing her as a visionary whose work has elevated Lagos’ reputation on the global fashion map. She commended the designer’s consistent innovation, elegant craftsmanship, and ability to tell African stories through couture, ready-to-wear, and bespoke creations. According to her, milestones like this reinforce Lagos’ position as a vibrant cultural and creative hub.

In her remarks, Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka reaffirmed the Lagos State Government’s unwavering commitment to supporting the creative and fashion industries. She highlighted that these sectors are essential not only for shaping Lagos’ cultural identity but also for attracting local and international tourists who seek authentic lifestyle and artistic experiences in the city.

She further noted that the fashion industry contributes significantly to the State’s economy, creating jobs for designers, stylists, models, photographers, artisans, and numerous small businesses across the value chain. Strengthening this ecosystem, she said, remains a key priority of the Ministry, as it aligns with the government’s broader agenda of promoting inclusive growth and youth empowerment.
