The Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Adebobo Oyekan-Ismaila, has reaffirmed that Lagos remains a safe, secure, and investment-friendly destination, dispelling misconceptions some tourists and investors may have about Nigeria. She highlighted that Lagos continues to attract both local and foreign investments across multiple sectors, thanks to its peace, stability, and dynamic economy. Mrs. Oyekan-Ismaila made this statement on behalf of the State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, during a courtesy visit by members of Eko Club Atlanta to the Ministry

She emphasised that the prevailing peace and security in Lagos have been major enablers of tourism growth, creative enterprise, and diaspora engagement. Citing the successful hosting of the E1 Lagos Grand Prix in October 2025 as proof of Lagos’ ability to deliver world-class events, she stated, “Lagos remains the safest and most secure State in Nigeria. There is peace across the city, and this continues to attract investors, tourists, and partners from around the world.” She also praised the collaborative efforts of organisations like Eko Club Atlanta, whose humanitarian and cultural initiatives complement the government’s efforts to improve lives.
The Permanent Secretary reiterated the Ministry’s commitment to deepening partnerships with Eko Club Atlanta, particularly in humanitarian service, diaspora engagement, and cultural exchange programs that promote Lagos’ global image. In response to a request for the return of the historic Eyo Festival, she confirmed that the festival will be held before the end of the year, with preparations underway to ensure a colourful and well-organised celebration reflecting Lagos’ rich cultural heritage.
Speakers at the event, including the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Tourism, Arts and Culture, Miss Damilola Ayinde-Marshal, Esq., commended Eko Club Atlanta for its dedication to community service. She highlighted the Club’s medical missions and cultural projects as examples of initiatives that align with the Lagos State Government’s developmental goals, promoting the city as Africa’s leading destination for tourism, culture, and innovation.

In his remarks, the President of Eko Club Atlanta, Honourable Deji Ajiboye, praised the Lagos State Government for its visionary leadership and hospitality. He noted that the Club’s medical and cultural initiatives aim to complement state efforts in enhancing residents’ welfare. Chairperson of the Medical Mission 2025, Honourable Adewunmi Isiotan, added that over 2,000 beneficiaries received free consultations, screenings, and food distribution during this year’s outreach, with medications worth over $50,000 donated by members from Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, and New York. She pledged continued collaboration with the State Government in promoting tourism, healthcare, and cultural development.
