In a proactive move to address the rising cases of human trafficking and irregular migration, the Lagos State Government has partnered with key Federal Government agencies to sensitize public servants on the dangers of these social vices. The sensitization programme, organized through the Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Relations (MoSD&IGR), took place at the Adeyemi Bero Auditorium, Alausa-Ikeja, drawing participation from various ministries, departments, and agencies.

The event, themed “Partnership for Protection: Safeguarding Public Servants Against Trafficking and Unsafe Migration,” sought to educate public servants on the deceptive tactics employed by traffickers and illegal migration networks. It also aimed to strengthen awareness of the legal, emotional, and social consequences of falling victim to such schemes, especially as many Nigerians continue to seek opportunities abroad through unsafe means.
Speaking during the event, officials emphasized that human trafficking and irregular migration have evolved into complex global challenges requiring joint action from all tiers of government. They noted that public servants, as critical agents of change, must be well-informed to not only protect themselves but also serve as advocates against these dangerous practices within their communities.
The sensitization exercise also highlighted the importance of inter-agency collaboration in combating human trafficking. Representatives from federal agencies shared insights on current policies, intervention programs, and support mechanisms available for victims, while urging participants to channel their knowledge toward community education and advocacy.

By spearheading such initiatives, the Lagos State Government reaffirmed its commitment to building a safer, more informed, and resilient workforce. The event aligns with the state’s broader vision of “A Greater Lagos Rising,” where every citizen, including public servants, contributes meaningfully to the collective fight against exploitation and unsafe migration.
