As part of the two-day Joint Thematic Meeting of the Rabat, Khartoum, and Niamey Processes, the Lagos State Government hosted delegates from across regions to a Cultural Night at the J. Randle Centre for Yoruba Culture and History, Onikan. The event served as a vibrant celebration of Lagos’ cultural identity, creative heritage, and its role as a hub for cross-cultural dialogue and international collaboration.

Welcoming guests to the cultural soirée, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Sustainable Development Goals, Dr. Oreoluwa Finnih, described the gathering as a celebration of identity and diplomacy through art. She highlighted the unifying power of culture in fostering understanding and collaboration across borders, emphasizing that partnerships connecting governance, humanitarian action, and cultural exchange are essential in the fight against exploitation and in promoting human dignity.
The evening opened with a captivating traditional welcome dance that set the tone of warmth, unity, and cultural pride. Delegates were then taken on a guided tour of the John Randle Centre, where they explored the rich tapestry of Yoruba culture and the historical essence of Lagos as a city deeply rooted in tradition and progress.
Guests were treated to enthralling performances, including an emotional Ewi rendition and a thought-provoking spoken word presentation. Both art forms reflected the shared themes of resilience, unity, and the enduring spirit of humanity that transcend geographical borders, reaffirming culture’s role as a bridge between people and nations.

The night concluded with a vibrant live band performance that filled the air with rhythmic beats and soulful melodies, offering an unforgettable finale that showcased Lagos’ artistic brilliance and hospitality. Among the dignitaries in attendance were the representative of the Minister of State for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, the Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr. Mobolaji Ogunlende, members of the diplomatic community, the Body of Permanent Secretaries, and representatives of the anti-trafficking agency.
