Lagos State Health District IV recently concluded its 2025 Annual Management Retreat at the Cordis Hotel, Alausa, centered on the theme "Reinforcing a Motivated and Responsive Workforce for Better Healthcare Delivery." The two-day event aimed to reposition healthcare facilities within the district to become fully functional and efficient service providers. The retreat served as a platform for leadership to review past performances and strategize for the upcoming year.

The Permanent Secretary of Health District IV, Dr. Abimbola Bowale, welcomed participants by expressing his gratitude for their dedication and diligence. He emphasized the need for facilities to evolve into enviable healthcare providers, urging the management team to raise the bar of service delivery. A key focus of his address was the importance of time management, as he stressed that working within allotted timeframes is essential for operational excellence.
Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Kemi Ogunyemi, also addressed the gathering, commending the efforts of frontline workers. She highlighted the critical role these professionals play in the healthcare ecosystem and stressed the need for continuous training and effective monitoring. Dr. Ogunyemi’s remarks underscored the state’s commitment to maintaining high-quality service standards across all public health institutions.
The retreat featured technical sessions, including a review by Dr. Eniola Erinosho on domesticating the theme specifically for Health Superintendents at Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs). This localized approach ensures that the broader district goals are translated into practical, daily actions at the grassroots level. The discussions focused on creating a responsive environment where staff are motivated to meet the needs of patients promptly.

In attendance were Permanent Secretaries from Health Districts I through VI, reflecting a unified approach to healthcare management in Lagos. The event concluded with a renewed commitment from Medical Officers and department heads to implement the strategies discussed. By fostering a culture of accountability and motivation, Health District IV aims to significantly improve the healthcare experience for residents in its jurisdiction.
