Lagos Head of Service hails Permanent Secretaries as public service “think-tank”

Lagos State Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, has lauded the Body of Permanent Secretaries, describing them as the intellectual backbone of the state’s public service and the most vibrant in Nigeria.


Agoro made this commendation on Monday, August 25, 2025, during the opening of the week-long 2nd edition of the Strategic Leadership and Management Course (SLMC2), held at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies Oba (Dr.) Sikiru Kayode Adetona School of Governance Studies, Olabisi Onabanjo University Campus.


The programme, organized for Permanent Secretaries, is part of efforts to enhance leadership capacity in Lagos State. Agoro stressed that consistent training and retraining initiatives are critical to sharpening administrative skills, strengthening governance processes, and transforming public service delivery.


The event was attended by key dignitaries, including Prof. Ayo Omotayo, Director-General of NIPSS; Mr. Kehinde Olufemi Onasanya, Ogun State Head of Service; Mr. Suleiman Muhammad Kabir, Secretary/Director of Administration; Barr. Nima Salman Mann, Director of Studies; and Dr. Musa Umar, Director of Research.

Agoro reaffirmed Lagos State Government’s commitment to capacity-building programmes, noting that human capital development remains central to the A Greater Lagos Rising agenda.
