The Lagos State Governor joined fellow Governors, traditional rulers, and citizens in Akure for the South-West Citizen–Government Engagement Summit, a landmark gathering that reaffirmed the region’s collective commitment to driving development through unity, collaboration, and shared purpose. The summit served as a platform for meaningful dialogue between leaders and the people, underscoring the importance of inclusive governance and active citizen participation in shaping the region’s sustainable future.

The Governor emphasized that it is time for the South-West to once again lead Nigeria’s renewal through visionary leadership, cooperation, and collective action across states and communities. Historically, the region has been a model of progress and innovation, driven by values of discipline, integrity, and excellence. By working together, South-West leaders aim to strengthen governance structures, improve infrastructure, and create economic opportunities that uplift families and communities across the region.


With the establishment of the South-West Development Commission, championed by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and supported by the National Assembly, a new era of regional growth and integration has begun. The Commission provides a structured framework for coordinated planning and implementation of strategic projects designed to boost economic growth, industrialization, and social development reviving the visionary legacy of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo and the prosperity of the old Western Region.

Under President Tinubu’s leadership, Nigeria is steadily regaining confidence through bold economic reforms aimed at stabilizing the economy, attracting investment, and strengthening national development. These transformative policies are already yielding results restoring investor trust, revitalizing industries, and setting the nation on a path toward long-term prosperity. The Governor lauded the President’s vision for a renewed Nigeria built on resilience, innovation, and economic inclusion.


For Lagos State, this renewed confidence presents fresh opportunities for transformative infrastructure projects such as the 4th Mainland Bridge, the Green Line Rail, and the Lekki International Airport.
