Lagos Celebrates 25 Years of CNN’s Inside Africa

The Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, joined industry leaders and cultural enthusiasts at the premiere screening of a special episode of CNN’s Inside Africa on Friday, November 21, 2025. The event took place at The Sky Restaurant, Eko Hotel and Suites, Victoria Island, bringing together key voices from Lagos’ creative and tourism ecosystem.



The screening marked a major milestone the 25th anniversary of Inside Africa, CNN’s long-standing flagship programme that has consistently highlighted the continent’s most inspiring stories. The episode celebrated the people and places pushing African culture, innovation, and creativity to new global heights.

Mrs. Benson-Awoyinka’s presence underscored Lagos State’s continued commitment to supporting platforms that showcase Africa’s cultural richness. She emphasised the importance of global partnerships and media representation in uplifting local talents, creative entrepreneurs, and cultural institutions.

The commissioner also commended Inside Africa for its dedication to telling authentic African stories that reflect the continent’s diversity, resilience, and creative evolution. She noted that Lagos, as a cultural and economic powerhouse, remains a proud contributor to the narratives shaping Africa’s image on the world stage.



The event concluded with networking sessions that brought together artists, filmmakers, tourism stakeholders, and private-sector partners. It further reinforced Lagos State’s position as a vibrant hub for arts, culture, and innovation perfectly aligned with the vision behind Inside Africa’s 25-year legacy.
