Ibeju-Lekki Local Government Presents ₦15.172 Billion Y2026 Budget

The Executive Chairman of Ibeju-Lekki Local Government, Hon. Abdullahi Sesan Olowa, has presented the ₦15,172,250,000 2026 Appropriation Bill to the 10th Legislative Council. The presentation, held on December 9, 2025, at the Council Secretariat, marks a significant step in the local government's fiscal planning for the upcoming year, highlighting its financial scale amidst rapid transformation.

The budget, aptly christened the "Budget of Renewed and Resilient Development," is built upon the administration's comprehensive S.H.I.E.E.L.D Agenda, which focuses on Security, Health, Infrastructure, Education, Environment, Local Economy, Digital governance, and Civil Participation. This framework emphasizes adaptation and resilience in the face of local and global challenges, signaling a commitment to sustainable, inclusive growth in the rapidly developing corridor.
Resource allocation reflects a strategic prioritization across key sectors. The largest share is allocated to Security and General Public Service at ₦5,530,250,000 (36.45%), followed by Infrastructure at ₦3,767,500,000 (24.83%). Significant resources were also earmarked for Education (8.66\%) and Digital Governance & Civic Participation (17.14\%), demonstrating a commitment to human capital and modern governance.
In his address, Hon. Olowa acknowledged the immense growth of Ibeju-Lekki, which he described as one of the fastest-growing areas in Lagos State. He emphasized that this growth necessitates increased responsibility and a strategic approach, which the theme "Renewal and Resilience" embodies, by preparing systems strong enough to support the unfolding future of the local government

The Council Leader, Hon. Mojeed Olayinka, commended the timely and comprehensive presentation, affirming the budget's alignment with the community's aspirations. He assured robust legislative scrutiny and an expeditious passage before the end of the year, a move intended to guarantee a seamless implementation from the beginning of the 2026 fiscal year..
