Lagos State Health District III has received high-level commendations for its pioneering use of technology to enhance primary healthcare delivery. During the District’s annual management retreat in Ikoyi, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, and Commissioner for Health, Prof. Akin Abayomi, praised the district’s leadership for adopting "out-of-the-box" solutions like QR-code-based complaint systems and voice-message tools for non-literate residents.

The retreat, themed “Advancing Quality Healthcare Through Technology and Data-Driven Solutions,” served as a performance review for the year 2025. Permanent Secretary Dr. Monsurat Adeleke revealed impressive milestones, including achieving zero maternal deaths in the Eti-Osa and Ibeju-Lekki LGAs. These successes were attributed to intensive Emergency Obstetric Care training and expanded medical outreach to riverine and underserved communities.

Looking toward 2026, the District unveiled a strategy that shifts focus from mere service numbers to actual survival outcomes. Dr. Adeleke announced the launch of a "Continuity of Care" pilot program in Ibeju-Lekki and the establishment of an Epe Crisis Task Force. The district plans to integrate real-time data analytics to ensure vaccine availability and more efficient logistics management across its jurisdiction.

Commissioner Prof. Akin Abayomi emphasized that the District’s success proves the value of the state’s unique six-district structure. By decentralizing health management, the state has fostered a healthy competition that drives innovation. He urged all healthcare workers to continue embracing digital tools, noting that transparency and efficiency are the keys to achieving Universal Health Coverage in a rapidly growing metropolis.

The event reached a high point with the recognition of outstanding personnel who have gone above and beyond in their duties. Awards were presented to top nursing, medical, and outreach officers, including Dr. Dehinde Akindele and Mrs. Oluwasogo Motunrayo. These accolades serve to motivate the workforce as the District transitions into a technology-first approach for the coming year.
