Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has presented the 2026 Budget Estimates to the Lagos State House of Assembly, marking a significant milestone as the final full-year budget of his administration. The Governor described the moment as a reflection of the journey so far and the shared vision for a more prosperous Lagos. He emphasized that the budget is designed to further uplift the quality of life for residents across the state.

The proposed ₦4.237 trillion budget, tagged "Budget of Shared Prosperity," outlines a comprehensive fiscal plan backed by a projected revenue of ₦3.994 trillion. This leaves a financing gap of ₦243.33 billion, which the Governor assured will be responsibly managed. Sanwo-Olu stressed that the budget is focused on enhancing access to essential services, strengthening state systems, and ensuring the continued delivery of dividends of good governance.

A major highlight of the presentation is the allocation of ₦2.185 trillion to capital projects, signaling the administration’s commitment to completing ongoing infrastructure and initiating new ones that support the state’s long-term growth. The remaining ₦2.052 trillion is earmarked for recurrent expenditure, covering personnel costs, government operations, and other financial obligations crucial to keeping Lagos running efficiently.

Governor Sanwo-Olu noted that the progress recorded in 2025 forms a solid foundation for the new budget cycle. Key sectors such as education, healthcare, transportation, housing, technology, the environment, and public safety have seen meaningful improvements, and the 2026 budget aims to consolidate these gains. He reaffirmed that his administration remains committed to building a Lagos that is safer, cleaner, more competitive, and more inclusive.

Sanwo-Olu expressed gratitude to the Lagos State House of Assembly, the state’s civil service, party leadership, and the people of Lagos whose support continues to drive the administration’s vision.
