Lagos State Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu on Wednesday welcomed the Charge d’Affaires of the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia, Saad Fahad Almarri, to a formal courtesy meeting at Lagos House, Marina. The cordial reception underscored Lagos State’s commitment to strengthening bilateral ties with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

During the visit, Governor Sanwo-Olu emphasized the importance of international cooperation and expressed eagerness to expand areas of collaboration, particularly in trade, education, infrastructure and real estate. The exchange of pleasantries set the tone for deeper engagement between Lagos State and Saudi interests.
For his part, Charge d’Affaires Almarri commended the Lagos government’s proactive stance on diplomacy and development, noting that bilateral relations between Nigeria and Saudi Arabia have grown substantially with trade, education exchange, and broader cooperation forming key areas of progress.
The meeting comes against a backdrop of renewed efforts by the state to attract foreign investment. As Lagos prepares for the upcoming 6th Lagos Real Estate MarketPlace Conference and Exhibitions, the engagement with the Saudi envoy signals readiness to explore partnerships in real estate, housing, and infrastructure under a shared vision of sustainable development.

Governor Sanwo-Olu described the visit as a positive stride for Lagos, saying that such diplomatic overtures align with the state’s long-term ambition to position itself as a leading global city open to international collaboration, commerce, and growth. The meeting also reaffirms Lagos’ role not just as Nigeria’s commercial hub, but as a gateway for foreign investors interested in the broader West African region.
