First Lady Launches Major Economic Empowerment Grants for Women Entrepreneurs

The Renewed Hope Initiative, spearheaded by the First Lady, has launched a significant economic empowerment programme designed to provide substantial financial assistance to women entrepreneurs and small-scale business owners nationwide. The initiative is a monumental step aimed at extending critical financial relief and enhancing the economic independence of countless women across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
The core of the programme involves the distribution of empowerment grants to beneficiaries selected across the country. Through this landmark intervention, 250 million is earmarked for distribution to women beneficiaries in each of the 36 states and the FCT. The grants are specifically designed to strengthen existing enterprises, boost productivity, and improve the overall economic outlook for women.
​Further solidifying the commitment, an additional $650 million is allocated to support and expand empowerment initiatives within the organisation’s broader mandate. This substantial funding ensures that the Renewed Hope Initiative can continue its far-reaching programmes in crucial sectors such as agriculture, education, and healthcare, guaranteeing a deep and nationwide impact.
​At the launch event, the First Lady was represented by the wife of the Governor of Lagos
State, Dr. Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu who delivered a powerful message underscoring the foundation’s dedication to sustainable empowerment. She reassured attendees that the support for small business owners and far-reaching programmes would be continuously reaffirmed and carried out without delay.
The Renewed Hope Initiative stands as a pivotal force for socioeconomic change, demonstrating a clear commitment to leveraging resources for the benefit of women. By distributing these large-scale grants, the foundation is actively working towards its goal of creating a more equitable economic landscape and ensuring that "no Nigerian is left behind" in the drive for empowerment.
