Education District IV, under the leadership of the Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Mr. Bamidele Paseda Olufemi, recently organised an induction programme to welcome newly recruited teachers into the Lagos State Teaching Service. The event, held at the District Headquarters Hall in Sabo-Yaba, served as an orientation platform to acquaint the new teachers with the ethics, standards, and expectations that define professionalism in the Lagos State education system.

In his keynote address, the TG/PS, Mr. Olufemi, highlighted the importance of discipline, punctuality, and respect as core values essential for a successful teaching career. He urged the inductees to uphold integrity, avoid all forms of misconduct or inappropriate relationships with students, and remain fully dedicated to their duties as educators shaping the next generation.
Mr. Olufemi further encouraged the new teachers to embrace teamwork, continuous learning, and a deep commitment to excellence in their daily responsibilities. He advised them to cultivate honesty, accountability, and humility, stressing the importance of learning from senior colleagues while maintaining dignity and professionalism in both conduct and appearance.
He also reminded the teachers of the importance of adhering to proper dress codes, ethical behaviour, and spiritual grounding in their service delivery. According to him, “prayer still matters in our service to humanity,” as spiritual balance plays a vital role in the fulfilment of their responsibilities as teachers and mentors.

The induction aligns with Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda, particularly the pillar on Education and Technology, which emphasises the continuous development of teachers as critical drivers of quality education in Lagos State. The exercise underscores the government’s commitment to strengthening human capital, promoting moral standards, and ensuring that every Lagos classroom is led by a competent and dedicated educator..
