Education District IV Celebrates Students’ Victories at 7th Opeifa Secondary Schools Sports Competition

The Tutor-General/Permanent Secretary, Education District IV, Mr. Olufemi Bamidele Paseda, has congratulated and celebrated outstanding students from the District who excelled at the 7th Opeifa Secondary Schools Sports Competition a prestigious Lagos State-wide event showcasing the best young athletes from public secondary schools. The event highlighted the district’s commitment to nurturing talent and promoting excellence among students.

In his remarks, Mr. Paseda praised the students for their commitment, discipline, and remarkable performances, describing them as true ambassadors of excellence and determination. He emphasized that their achievements reflect the district’s strong culture of talent development and align with Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES Plus Agenda, which focuses on youth empowerment, education, and sports development.
At the competition, Aje Comprehensive Senior High School emerged Gold Medalists in the Senior Boys Category, while Herbert Macaulay Junior High School secured the Gold Medal in the Junior Girls Category. United Christian Senior High School also clinched Gold in the Senior Boys Category, with Government College Senior School taking home the Bronze Medal. Individual brilliance shone through, with several students winning personal awards such as Best Goalkeeper, Highest Goal Scorer, and Most Valuable Player.
Among the notable winners were Master Malik Balogun, Best Goalkeeper (Junior Boys Category); Master Olufemi Nasiru and Miss Chima Ezeono, Best Goalkeepers (Senior Boys & Girls Categories); Master Paschel Komoko and Miss Nwoba Chineye, Highest Goal Scorers (Junior Boys & Girls Categories); and David Ayomide, Highest Goal Scorer (Senior Boys Category). Miss Ezor Gabriella was crowned the Most Valuable Player (Senior Girls Category), earning an iPhone 11 for her skill and leadership, while Miss Sikiru Mutiat of Lagos City Senior College was honoured as the Ambassador of the Opeifa Cup for her outstanding sportsmanship.

Mr. Paseda commended the schools’ management, coaches, and the District’s sports unit for their continuous dedication to developing well-rounded students who excel both academically and athletically. He urged the young champions to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to their goals, reminding them that true education combines intellectual excellence with physical and moral development.
