The Lagos State Commissioner for Physical Planning and Urban Development has been honoured with a Performance Award at the Real Estate Discussions and Awards (REDA) 2025, held recently at Radisson Blu, Ikeja. The recognition underscores the State Government’s commitment to regulatory excellence and sustainable growth within Lagos’ thriving real estate sector.

Speaking as a joint Keynote Speaker, the Commissioner highlighted that the event’s theme, “Back to the Basics – The Future of Real Estate,” reinforces the importance of sustainability as the foundation for the sector’s long-term success.
He noted that the gathering provided a crucial platform for uniting stakeholders across Nigeria and Africa to collaboratively shape the future of real estate development.
He emphasized that the award was a testament to the bold initiatives of the Lagos State Government in addressing the mounting regulatory challenges facing the built environment, where both public and private investments amount to trillions of Naira.
He added that town planning serves as the bedrock of real estate growth, outlining the Ministry’s mandate in policy formulation, layout approvals, planning permits, enforcement of physical planning laws, and sustainable housing initiatives.
The Commissioner stressed that the sustainability of the real estate industry depends on adherence to proper planning and environmental responsibility.

He urged investors and developers to embrace Green Building principles, focusing on sustainable energy use, eco-friendly materials, and long-term property lifecycle planning.
He also called for collective action to tackle issues such as rapid urbanisation, land scarcity, affordability gaps, and compliance with planning regulations.
