In a powerful display of responsive leadership, the Lagos State Commissioner for Commerce, Cooperatives, Trade and Investment, Mrs. Folashade Bada-Ambrose, recently empowered 300 constituents through her HC 2.0 Community Outreach. Held in the historic Isale Eko area of Lagos Island, the initiative focused on bridging the gap between government policy and the everyday lives of traders and artisans. The program was designed not just as a charitable event, but as a strategic intervention to boost economic resilience at the local level.

One of the primary focuses of this outreach was the education of small business owners on the nuances of the new tax laws set to take effect in 2026. The Commissioner brought in seasoned tax experts to simplify complex regulations, focusing on clarity, compliance, and building trust between the state and its citizens. By providing practical explanations tailored for the informal sector, Bada-Ambrose ensured that her constituents are well-equipped to navigate the evolving economic landscape without fear or confusion.
The outreach also carried a strong humanitarian component, particularly relevant during the festive season. Over 300 beneficiaries across the 10 wards of Lagos Island received bags of foodstuffs and financial stipends to help ease seasonal economic pressures. This gesture was a clear manifestation of the Sanwo-Olu administration’s commitment to reducing hunger and promoting joy among vulnerable families, reinforcing the idea that governance must have a "human face."
Furthermore, the Commissioner emphasized the vital role of women in driving household stability and community prosperity. By targeting female-led enterprises for support, the HC 2.0 initiative aligns with broader state goals of gender-inclusive economic growth. The event served as a platform to remind constituents that the government is an active partner in their success, providing both the knowledge and the resources necessary for their businesses to thrive in a competitive market.

Looking ahead to the new year, Mrs. Bada-Ambrose announced the commencement of "Igbega Iteration 2.0" in January 2026. However, she issued a firm reminder regarding civic responsibility, stating that participation in future empowerment programs would require a valid voter’s card. This move encourages citizens to remain active participants in the democratic process, ensuring that those who benefit from government initiatives are also those who engage in the civic duties that sustain the state.
