The Office of the State Surveyor-General (OSSG) officially commenced the 2026 work year with a special prayer session aimed at fostering discipline and productivity among its staff. The Acting Surveyor-General, Surv. Odupe Saliu Olalekan, welcomed the workforce with a charge to be more dedicated than ever before. He emphasized that the new year requires a "roll up your sleeves" attitude to meet the high expectations set by the state government for its flagship agencies.

Recognizing the OSSG as a critical revenue-generating arm of the Lagos State Government, Surv. Odupe revealed that specific revenue targets have already been assigned for the 2026 fiscal year. To support these goals, the office has recently allocated new project vehicles to various directorates. This investment in logistics is intended to eliminate bottlenecks and enhance the professional delivery of surveying services across the state’s various developmental projects.
Staff welfare and discipline were highlighted as the two pillars of the office's management strategy for the year. The Acting Surveyor-General warned that while excellence and productivity would be rewarded, underperformance or a lackadaisical attitude toward duty would face appropriate sanctions. Strict adherence to punctuality and daily attendance will be monitored to ensure that the office operates at peak efficiency to serve the public and the government.
In addition to professional duties, the leadership is promoting a culture of physical wellness and team spirit. Staff members were encouraged to participate in the Head of Service monthly fitness walks, and the OSSG football team was challenged to bring home the HOS Cup in 2026. This holistic approach aims to ensure that the workforce is not only technically proficient but also physically and mentally prepared for the demands of the year.

The session also served as a moment to reflect on past achievements, including the recent "send-forth" ceremony for six retirees and the honoring of 13 outstanding officers from 2025. By celebrating those who served meritoriously and rewarding current top performers, the OSSG aims to sustain a culture of excellence. The office enters 2026 with a renewed resolve to deliver quality service and contribute significantly to the "Greater Lagos" vision.
