The Lagos State Ministry of Youth and Social Development has officially commenced the 2025 Ibile Youth Academy. Commissioner Mr. Mobolaji Abubakre Ogunlende announced the detailed lineup of activities today, marking the start of a rigorous selection process. Physical screening of applicants is scheduled to take place from January 5 to 9 across the five traditional divisions of Lagos.

The academy is designed to be a comprehensive leadership journey for young residents. Following the screening, training sessions will run from January 26 to 29, leading into a One-Day Leadership Seminar in early February. The program’s highlight is a week-long Residential Bootcamp, where participants will undergo intensive character and leadership development.

Permanent Secretary Pharm (Mrs) Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu emphasized that the program is central to the state's THEMES Plus Agenda. She noted that the academy focuses on the virtues of volunteerism, citizenship, and leadership. The goal is to prepare the next generation to take over leadership roles with greater competence and integrity.

The program will culminate in a grand closing ceremony in late February, where the new State Youth Ambassador will be crowned. The top five performers from each division will also be named Divisional Ambassadors. These young leaders will be tasked with implementing impactful "pet projects" within their respective local communities.

Over the years, the Ibile Youth Academy has gained a reputation for producing wave-making leaders in various sectors. By investing in these "Rising Stars," the Lagos State Government continues to prioritize youth development. The 2025 edition promises to discover and nurture even more talent for the benefit of the state's future.
