In a major boost to public health, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Health, Dr. Oluwakemi Ogunyemi, has flagged off an eight-day free medical outreach. The initiative is sponsored by Chief Razak Akanni Okoya, Chairman of the Eleganza Group, in celebration of his 86th birthday. The program targets hundreds of residents daily, providing critical medical interventions at no cost.

The outreach is being executed with technical support from Lagos State Health District III to ensure clinical standards. Dr. Ogunyemi praised Chief Okoya for demonstrating how private philanthropy can align with government health agendas. She noted that such partnerships are vital for improving early disease detection and providing quality care to the grassroots.
Beneficiaries are receiving a wide range of services, including blood pressure and sugar checks, Hepatitis B testing, and dental care. The outreach also features eye screenings with free corrective glasses and cancer screenings for women. These services are provided in collaboration with the Lagos State AIDS Control Agency (LSACA) and other specialized health units.
Dr. Monsurat Adeleke, Permanent Secretary of Health District III, described the gesture as a "timely intervention." She emphasized that the program goes beyond mere celebration, offering practical life-saving treatments to those in need. The structured medical screenings also include health education to help residents manage their long-term wellbeing.

Adding to the medical benefits, Chief Okoya extended a cash gift of ₦10,000 to each beneficiary of the outreach. This holistic approach to community support has been lauded as a demonstration of true compassion and dignity. The eight-day event serves as a model for public-private synergy in the Lagos healthcare sector.
